At MUSE Clinic, we use our SkinTyte treatment to stimulate healthy dermal activity and treat skin laxity. Our team of practitioners are trained to serve each patient’s needs by adjusting the treatment to suit the skin condition, tone, and goals of the individual. What is SkinTyte by Sciton?
SkinTyte by Sciton uses the power of BBL (Broad Band Light) energy to heat the skin. This stimulates many healthy effects, triggering collagen production which helps to promote skin strength, elasticity, and firmness. The procedure is non-invasive, which means there is no physical penetration into the skin. Rather, the technology administers pulses of light energy into the deeper layers of the skin to trigger collagen and skin cell renewal.
This promotion of dermal renewal, healing, and collagen, can have cosmetic impacts and treat concerns such as skin wrinkles, laxity, and loss of elasticity. Note that results will vary according to individual factors.
Benefits of the treatment
Ageing, sun exposure, and other lifestyle factors can impact the skin’s elasticity with time. This can lead to common concerns about signs of ageing, such as facial wrinkles and loss of skin firmness. While some people may seek surgical solutions, treatments like SkinTyte can treat these skin concerns non-invasively. Although the benefits may vary depending on the patient and their treatment plan, some general benefits include:
- Non-invasive: This means the procedure does not penetrate the skin, leading to a shorter recovery time compared to other (invasive) treatments.
- Inbuilt cooling: The technology features a cooling system designed to regulate the surface temperature of the skin. This helps the patient remain comfortable during the treatment process.
- Various treatment areas:The treatment can be applied to many areas, such as the eye area, jowls, abdomen, arms, and hands.
- Stimulates natural collagen: The procedure triggers the natural processes in the skin, such as collagen production, which can have enduring effects for months after the treatment.
When considering the benefits of SkinTyte, potential patients should also note that the results are variable. Each patient will have a customised treatment plan, designed to suit their skin needs.
SkinTyte by Sciton Before and After
Good candidates for SkinTyte by Sciton
The procedure is suitable for many skin types, conditions, and concerns. Some patients may desire to treat minor signs of ageing on the face. Others may wish to target their loose abdominal skin after weight loss or pregnancy. Whatever the case, you will need to meet with one of our clinicians to determine if you are a suitable candidate.
Remember that SkinTyte BBL treatments are not replacements for surgical cosmetic procedures. If you have severe skin laxity and signs of ageing, you may require a more invasive treatment to achieve the results you want. To find out whether SkinTyte by Sciton is right for you, discuss your options and needs with your dermal therapist at MUSE Clinic.
SkinTyte Consultation
In order to initiate a discussion about your cosmetic needs with a professional, you will need to book a consultation. Consultations allow you and your practitioner to get to know each other. You can ask about SkinTyte treatments, whether you’re a candidate, and what you can expect according to your personal skin condition and goals. Our friendly team will endeavour to clear up any uncertainties and help you understand your treatment options. We will also need some information about any health conditions or past treatments you’ve undergone. This way, we can aim to facilitate a positive and comfortable treatment experience.
SkinTyte by Sciton Procedure
Once we have spoken to you in a consultation, we can think ahead to your treatment. Many patients may have a multiple-session treatment plan, with around four sessions spaced a few weeks apart.
During treatment, your practitioner will move the laser over the treatment area four times. Each time, the device will heat the inner layers of the skin whilst keeping a stable surface temperature. It does this with its inbuilt cooling mechanism that cools the surface of the skin before, during, and after the heat is applied. This helps to mitigate damage to the skin. The pulses of light energy are rapid but gentle, stimulating the body’s natural healing and renewal, and promoting an increase of collagen production. This should have a progressive effect on the skin in the following days and weeks.

Aftercare and Recovery
After your SkinTyte treatment, you can expect to go back to your normal routines. However, it’s important to avoid certain activities, as your skin will be sensitive and should not be irritated. Avoid activities that can cause the skin to heat, such as:
- Strenuous work or exercise
- Spas, saunas, and hot baths
- Sun exposure
It’s a good idea to regularly apply sunscreen, and notify the clinic if you experience any adverse symptoms. Over the next few weeks, depending on your treatment plan, the skin should begin to increase collagen production.
Risks and side effects of SkinTyte by Sciton
Although the treatment is non-invasive, you should be aware of the possible risks and side effects. Patients might experience mild side effects after their SkinTyte procedure, such as redness, which should resolve within a couple of days. It is rare to experience more severe side effects, such as blisters, burns, and hyperpigmentation.
