PRP Therapy Sydney

Naturally trigger restorative and healing processes in your skin

Collagen is what keeps your skin looking youthful and soft. As you age, collagen production starts to slow down and your skin suffers as a result.

Damaged skin tissue leads to wrinkles, uneven skin tone, poor texture and general sagginess. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is a form of natural intervention that encourages healthy cellular activity. Derived from your own blood, PRP is a treatment that uses platelets to deliver growth factors directly into the skin tissue, triggering a restorative and healing process.

Where PRP was once mostly used to treat sports injuries, today it is one of the most popular alternatives to traditional cosmetic treatments. Using the body’s own tissues as a restorative treatment, PRP heals connective tissues, increase tissue production and supports the growth of new blood vessels.

PRP Therapy Before and After

PRP Therapy Procedure – What to Expect

Prior to your PRP treatment, Dr Lowe or one of our experienced clinicians at MUSE Clinic Sydney will discuss your aesthetic goals, as well as your medical history with you. This will help to determine if you are a suitable candidate for the procedure, as well as create a personalised treatment plan.

During the procedure, your blood will first be collected in specially designed tubes, after which it will be placed in a centrifuge for several minutes. The centrifuge process helps to separate the platelet-rich plasma from other cells within the blood.

Using a series of small injections, the platelet-rich plasma will be injected into the treatment areas. In some cases, PRP may also be combined with other treatments, such as skin needling or dermal filler, for optimal results.

Depending on the size of the area that you want to treat, your treatment will take one to one and a half hours to complete. When it comes to comfort during treatment, PRP treatments are tolerable. You will be able to return to your usual routine soon afterwards.

Patients will require more than one treatment to achieve their desired results. Your lifestyle, skin condition and expectations will all make a difference to your results, but most patients will require at least three treatments spaced four to six weeks apart. In order to maintain your results, top-up treatments are recommended every six to 12 months.

What Can Be Treated with PRP Therapy?

PRP therapy is a versatile treatment that relies on the body’s natural healing processes to achieve results. Here are a few of the concerns that can be treated with PRP at MUSE Clinic Sydney:

Costs of PRP Injections at MUSE Clinic Sydney

To receive the most accurate cost estimation, we recommend waiting until your consultation with one of our MUSE Clinic clinicians in Sydney. We are unable to list specific figures on our website, as costs vary from patient to patient. To undergo PRP therapy, you will need a personalised treatment plan, which can help our staff to determine your individual treatment costs. Your procedure costs for PRP injections will depend on various factors, such as:

  • The treatment area
  • The treatment time
  • The desired results
  • The doctor’s expertise
  • The use of facilities
  • The anaesthesia fees

If patient’s wish to combine PRP therapy with other treatments, such as treatments with dermal filler or skin needling, this will add to the total procedure costs.

For more information on PRP therapy costs, please contact us via the enquiries form to the right of the page.

PRP Therapy Results

The results of your PRP treatments will appear gradually, with results becoming more visible after two weeks. Patients can expect to see the full results of their treatments after four months.

Results are gradual because the PRP process needs time to stimulate collagen production and for the collagen to take effect. No two patients will experience the same results, which is why we will need to create a personalised treatment plan that will meet your specific requirements.

Additionally, carefully following all aftercare instructions and recommendations will help enhance your PRP results.

PRP Injection Recovery

Most patients can return to their normal daily routine after PRP treatment. Patients may experience minor discomfort for the first two to five days after the procedure, but this can be manageable with prescription medication, if necessary.

PRP therapy recovery time is minimal, and you will be provided with recovery instructions during your consultation, which you can follow to ensure that you can achieve the best results. PRP injection recovery instructions may include to rest for 48 hours, avoid strenuous exercise, avoid taking any anti-inflammatory medication, and apply cold compress to manage any discomfort. On the rare chance that you notice any concerning symptoms, indicating that a complication has occurred, please notify your doctor as soon as possible.

Therapy Risks and Side Effects

Since PRP treatments use your own blood, there is very little chance of experiencing any adverse reactions. The blood samples are also processed according to specific clinical standards. However, all cosmetic treatments can be associated with potential risks and complications to some degree. PRP side effects or complications may include:

  • Infection
  • Irritation
  • Itching
  • Feeling of burning
  • Swelling
  • Dryness
  • Redness
  • Pain at the injection site
  • Bleeding at the injection site
  • Injury to the nerves in the treated area
  • Injury to tissues in the treated area
  • Unsatisfactory results

FAQs

Does treatment with platelet-rich plasma injections hurt?

If patients are concerned about discomfort during treatment, a topical anaesthetic can be applied to the treatment area, ensuring a pain-free procedure. If any pain is felt after the procedure, this can be managed by gently applying cold compress or taking prescribed medication, if it is deemed necessary.

Can PRP treatment be used on the face?

Yes, PRP injections used on the face, or a PRP facial, can promote collagen production to reverse signs of aging and restore healthy-looking skin.

What are some PRP facial benefits?

When injected into facial areas, PRP can stimulate collagen production, which can improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, thicken the skin and restore volume. By encouraging smoother and healthier skin, a PRP facial can create a youthful glow, improving the patient’s overall appearance.
